pixel detection

i got a project from one of colleagues and in that project he told me the avm061.dll is the main algorithm logic which is training various objects in a video frame based on illumination of pixels i.e., the most illuminated pixel is being detected Is the above said statement about the algorithm true and can any one suggest a similar kinda dll file to detect the least illuminated pixels too. Thanks in advance :)
