Are camera properties set each frame?

Does the camera properties module transmit the sttings to the camera each frame or does it monitor the last settings and only update it when something changes?
I can put an if statement around the camera properties when something changes but I would like to know if that is necessary.

Paul,
No, the settings are only sent when necessary. The camera properties module checks what the current setting is and only transmits the change when in fact it is a change otherwise no settings are updated.
