is it possible to have the bs2 work with roborealm and a camera to track a object in a room, and with out it connected to the computer while doing it. if so, how?

Yes that is possible but you'd need a hardware device to do the tracking as apposed to a computer. There are a couple of devices out there that might be what you are looking for. A partial list is:

  CMUCam - http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~cmucam/
  AVR Cam - http://www.jrobot.net/Projects/AVRcam.html
  Cognachrome - http://www.newtonlabs.com/cognachrome/
  Falcon - http://www.falconir.com/products.php
  POB-EYE - http://www.pob-technology.com/
  MOBISENSE - http://mobisense.free.fr/pages_en/mbs270.html

If you're wanting to use RoboRealm then you are pretty much tied to a computer of sorts ... but is doesn't need to be a really powerful one. Check

http://eeepc.asus.com/global/products.html?n=0

for a ~$400PC that runs RoboRealm.

I am looking for a simple way to interface a CMU cam to My present BS2 microcontroller. Aslo will need apropriate software preferably in PBASIC
Any hope? I have my funds tied up in my current multi sensor roamer robot.
The STAMP is the only MP. I have worked with so far and of course have been writing code in PBASIC. I plan to move up to a propellor , but first I want to master and see what all I can do with the BS2/PBASIC pairing

David,

Have you tried to contact the CMUcam folks? Seems more like a post for them rather than a PC based software site. From what I understand the two talk the same language .. you'd just need to get the BS2 to understand the protocol coming from the CMUcam. Check other sites that explain what the CMUcam's protocol is (we've not done that over here ... )
