Crashing Parallax USB servo controller
Anonymous
16 year
Hi,
I'm using RoboRealm with the Parallax USB servo controller.
The sliders do work, the servo reacts.
When I select a variable (with a good value) in the "Channel #" dropdown box,
then that variable's value apears in the "current value" box but than
an error pops up: "Please enter an integer" and RoboRealm crashes.
Any idea?
Thanks, Thijs

Thijs,

Yes, we found an error in this area .. but were unable to replicate exactly what you saw. Regardless, there was a problem that is now fixed in the latest version. Can you redownload RR and see if this problem still exists?

Thanks,
STeven.

Hi STeven,
The new download fixed the problem, thanks!
It is however quit slow:
I loaded COG_X in channel# 0 of the Parallax servo controller, and than
my framerate dropped from 10 to 1,5 FPS (laptop, 2.66 GHz, 512 MB, 320x240).
The same with the SV200 controller but the SSC and YEI_servocenter_3
worked fine (no remarkable slowdown).
Is that also your experience?
Thijs

PS. Is it possible to do a search in this forum?

Thijs,

It seems that selecting a variable that caused the min value to be used would slow down the GUI enough to bog down the rest of the system. This has been fixed. Please download ver 1.8.6.7 for that fix and let us know if it makes a difference.

Note that even with the version that you have, if you click on OK in the control GUI to hide the GUI window the fps should also increase. The fastest  mode of operation will always be with the control GUI closed/hidden esp when there are many GUI devices on the dialog.

STeven.

Title should also be fixed and yes, you can use the site search in the main menu to search the forum. Its not updated everyday but should have all the older than 1 week posts.

Hi STeven,
The new version is somewhat quicker, but closing the GUI helps most.
Thanks!
Thijs
