Detecting deformed rings

Hi,
I have the following problem and I'd appreciate your help: I need to detect, ID and track a set of deformed rings (elliptical rings). I'm trying to use the ellipse module for this, however I am getting two edges (interior and exterior) for each ring. Is there any way to generate only one edge, preferably the exterior one?

Yes, there are a couple ways to do this. Can you post an image that we can play with?

Hi STeven,
Sure, see attached. The color of the rings is either white or black, but never grey. And they can have this close to elliptical shape, as seen in the image.

Have a look at the attached. Note, this is one way of doing it ... there are others. The best way will depend on your final images and what specific quality you want to extract out from them.
