hi i want the colour filter to identify red and then give a signal to the serial port to start running please tell me how i can do this... urgent

Jonathan,
This can be done in two parts, color detection and then transmission through the serial port. See the tutorials for examples on that or even in the RR app, expand the examples subtree and have a look at the Red Color Tracking example.
