too many modules slowing down processing? Aniko Sandor from United States [6 posts] |

We are using many modules for the study we are programming and it seems that it is slowing down the processing. Any suggestions? I attached a screenshot. We don't have the same issue with other robo files that have fewer modules.
Thank you,
Aniko

Aniko,
If you post a sample image of what you are processing and the robo file we can have a closer look to see where the performance issue is. If not, you can note the gray numbers to the right of the pipeline which indicate the time spent in a particular module. Look for modules with high numbers and try to exchange them with faster modules or reduce the image size that you are processing ... or let us have a look and we might be able to do something about that.

Steven,
Thank you for the response. The processing times are not very helpful, sometimes they on some of the modules (a marker and a blob filter module) they go high (02:000) but most of the time they are pretty small.
I attached the robo file and a screenshot of what we process. We have two camera views, one on the Corobot body, the other one on the arm.
Thank you,
Aniko

Aniko,
If you find that the times are changing even when the robot is not moving then chances are that a communication issue is present. The modules that communicate with hardware devices will stall if communication is lost and slow down processing. If you disable all hardware modules (Phidgets, Corobot, etc.) do the times improve?
