Camera Source-Network Camera vs TV Card Anonymous |

|
Any suggestions for connecting to a network camera? Currently the only option showing is a TV PCI card. My network camera (Panasonic BLC1A) is running to a router so doesn't show up in systems properties>hardware as a device. I have the address of the camera on the router but that's about it.
Thanks
Ed

Tried the http read but didn't get anywhere. The LAN address for the camera is http://192.168.0.253:50000/ . When I invoke that in a browser I get the network camera application, not just the image. The closest I get is and error "Return header did not have content length"
Not sure how to get just the video images. Compression is motion jpeg for what it's worth.

Ed,
You need to enter in the exact url needed to grab the image directly. Entering the url of the webpage that contains the image will not work. For a Panasonic BL-C10A / C30A Camera your url that you enter into the HTTP_Read based on your post will look like:
http://192.168.0.253:50000/cgi-bin/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard
assuming you don't have any username/password restrictions.

Appreciate the reply.
FYI this is the url
http://skeels.no-ip.org:50000/ImageViewer?Resolution=320x240.
I started with this in roborealm. The camera was accessed and the router showed streaming information, but a header error message and no image in roborealm.
Using http://192.168.0.253:50000/cgi-bin/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard I still get the "header did not return content-length" error message but now the program hangs.
I start with a clean slate; nothing running.
Open "Loading/Saving>Http, enter the link as suggested, "get", (no password needed), "once per
second", "ok", "start".
Then save the set up to new.robo
Press "Run" on main screen, recieve header error message.
Press "Run" again to stop process, "edit" to open the HTTP information form, press "stop".
Then the camera is accessed (?). Camera on, router light shows activity approx once per second, but the
roborealm program hangs, "not responding" and I "end now".
The only way to get back into the program is to edit the new.robo file http <is_active>TRUE</is_active> to FALSE. Otherwise I can't access the http form to edit any information.
Also, when I start up again, the http link is now
http://192.168.0.253:50000/cgi-bin/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard (adding amp)
Each time I restart the program, another amp is inserted in the link. This happens even if I simply open the program and then close it without doing anything.
Trying different snippets npgMotionJPEG or nph anything hangs the program.
I do have an old 8mm ccd camera that works to the tv card but I was hoping to use something a little smaller and without daisy chaining a rca cords across the shop.

have to be careful posting information. This forum strips out the first occurance of "amp" if it follows an ampersand character without a space.
Anywho,
Thanks for the program and possibilities and wish you a good new year.

Tried different settings yesterday. Was able to get an image using;
http://skeels.no-ip.org:50000/SnapshotJPEG?Resolution=80x60
Once a second, but only after trying a large resolution and getting a message (see first image) then reducing the resolution. If set to ASAP, the image would only be up for about 10 seconds and then go to the second image.
Note that the program opens in a running mode and with current settings looks like third image.
Going to the http form to check settings, the values for get/post and refresh are blank. Not saved or saved somewhere else? (fourth image)
Tried again today after a cold boot but couldn't get any image to show.

Ed,
Apologize for not asking our usual first question which is if the url is publicly available. As we realized this from your last post we tested the url above. For whatever reason that server does not return a particular HTTP header (as you saw from the popups). To remedy this we've modified the application and have uploaded a new and hopefully running version. Please download RoboRealm again and try
http://skeels.no-ip.org:50000/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard
which works for us. Or just click on the .robo below.
Also note that we fixed the Jpeg image url above aswel so both should work ... but the Jpeg url is for single still images and not as quick as the one we mention above.
Happy new year!!

Thanks for your help.
Using http://skeels.no-ip.org:50000/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard
The program runs as shown in the first image with the bottom quarter obscured most of the time, with the area flashing one frame every 1-2 seconds.
When I click on "Run" to stop the process, (the camera goes off, the router lights stop) and click edit to look at the http form, then press "Stop" on the http form, the program hangs and the camera activity light goes on while the router shows a stream, but no action in the program.
Still, more hopeful than before! yay!
In the meantime, I am using an old CCD camcorder while I try the filter settings.
Is there anything about my system that might be affecting the program? I have a program exception for roborealm in the windows firewall. Other than that, it's XP Home SP2. No virus software running on the machine.

Windows XP firewall must be configured to open ports 50000
see link below on how to add the port as an exception

port exeptions Anonymous |

I do have an exeption for port 50000 for the camera both on the router and desktop. (I don't think I'd get any image otherwise)
I do get the full image if the update in roborealm is "once per second". I only loose part of the image when set to ASAP.
If I lower resolution to 160x120 and ASAP, I get a complete (but tiny) image.
Is there a way to lower the frame rate? I tried Other>Timer but don't think that has anything to do with the screen rate.
The program hangs whenever I try to edit the HTTP Read form after the program has been running. Have also had the program hang after running 30 minutes or so with the regular camera set up. Wondering if it's a graphics issue at my end. (?)
Thanks
Ed

Running on a laptop and the image is complete. The fps on the laptop is 7.5 vs 14.9+/- on the desktop (both set ASAP)
Found out I can limit the framerate on the desktop by setting Quality=Motion and I get 7.5fps and a complete image. I can check that off my list
The HTTP Load form still hangs when the Start/Stop button is clicked when "Stop".
Thanks,
Ed

Sorry, spoke too soon.
Quality=Motion does give a complete image but the quality is too low to use.
I'll look for something else.

HTTP Read Updates Anonymous |

Ed,
Seems like we did not give the image read without the length header enough room to download. That's the reason it was clipping the image. We've fixed that.
We also added an update to the Stop button in an attempt to fix that issue.
In terms of slowing down the framerate ... we assumed the refresh frequencies of the HTTP_READ module were not small enough? We've added some millisecond delays in hope that that was what you were looking for.
Please download RoboRealm again (we just updated it this morning) and try those items again.
As always thanks for your informative posts!

millisecond delays! Anonymous |

Yes, I was thinking of asking for millisecond update rates but forgot. Thanks!
I haven't tried the new app at this writing but looking forward.
I looked at both the laptop and desktop but couldn't find any adjustable settings that would explain why the laptop fps was 7.5 and the desktop was at the camera limit of 15fps +/- real world net issues. Tried both on WAN and LAN with similar results.
I did note that if I opened multiple instances of the camera in browsers on other machines, it reduced the available information from the ip camera to roborealm and the image got better.
Also noted that moving the camera around improved the image. At the time, it was targeting a large galvanized metal exhaust hood, and the total amount of information was much larger than if I was pointing the camera at matte black plastic. Even though the image was static, many pixels were updating frame to frame due to the reflective surface. I've noticed that also in streaming compression to the net, that the program can't keep up with the information load. The particular program solved the problem by transmitting a poorer quality image; did what it could and skipped the rest.
Too much fun,
Ed

hanging form dude! Anonymous |

The max fps on laptop or desktop is now 7.5fps, which is ok with me. Selecting ASAP thru 100ms all show 7.5+/-fps.
Hanging:
Start program with no .robo file loaded, select HTTP Read, enter http://skeels.no-ip.org:50000/nphContinuousServerPush?Resolution=320x240&Quality=Standard with GET and ASAP.
Click Start, image runs fine, click Stop, feed stops and form is active. Click Start again, image runs, click Stop, feed stops and form is active. Multiple times no problem yet. Click Start, OK (with "Run" on main screen either on or off) and save the setup. Click Run to start if not already running, then Run again to stop the feed (either once or mutiple times). Click Edit to access the HTTP Read form, click Stop and the program hangs. Doing this on the laptop and waiting 30 seconds, the form did light up once, but couldn't repeat.
Trying the same but with any update slower than ASAP and the HTTP Read form would hang on the first try and stay hung. (on both laptop and desktop) Never got as far as OK and save.
Did go to msconfig hide microsoft services and disable the rest. No change.
So close I can feel its breath.
Are there other feeds available to try? Is this particular to my Panasonic camera or LAN/router/system? Is this karma for leaving the seat up?

I walked away from the laptop with the HTTP Read form left hanging, and it did get to where it should be after about a minute, I just wasn't being patient enough. However, the desktop was in hourglass mode for almost an hour, so I ended it.

Try HTTP://cam*******.viewnetcam.com:50000. Camera #(*******) is issued by the panasonic static url issued at registry with them. I found this took DAYS after registering the BC-L1A. It now works.
