Follow specific blob, delete all other distoritions

I have a car following a green shirt. The shirt gets closer and farther and picks up fine. The problem is the camera picks up other little tiny green bits from color contrast of walls and light source. So my question is whats the best technique to follow a blob that increases in size because the human gets closer and farther but doesnt pick up anything but the moving object?
