Writing and Reading Variables

Currently I do not have RoboRealm and I have already downloaded the trial so I can't download it again. But I was wondering how the writing and reading variable modules work. I looked in the documentation section, but could not find the answer to my question. I was wondering how the module saves the data into the text file?
Ex: If I wanted to save the numbers 1-100 would it save like this, with the first data entered at the top of the list:
1
2
3
...
99
100

Or does the module save the last data entered as the top of the list?

Ex:
100
99
...
3
2
1

I know my question is somewhat confusing but I would appreciate any help.
