Is FPGA the board for stand alone device

        Hi

i just wanted to know in the tutorial were the robot tracked the green ball you had a stand alone device what was used,I am trying the same thing using a FPGA (EZ1CUSB - Altera Cyclone FPGA Development board with USB interface) my question is,is this the way i should go about it or is there a different board. My problem is reading the streaming media and using a RGB filter on it.Im using VHDL to write this program but i could also use VB.

THANKS
