Thanks for that Steven,
I had tried filled shapes as well, but, had the same issue.
I like your method for pulling out highlights as a mask before processing.
Some useful tips there.

Use the tags [image1], [image2], etc. to place the images within your question/comment.
Upload Images (.jpg, .png, .gif) < 300K, robofiles (.robo) or Zip files (.zip) < 300K.
